Backup Your Registry

Backup Your Registry with ERUNT
  • Please download ERUNT from the following link:
    Download ERUNT
  • Unzip all the files into a folder of your choice.
  • Double-click Erunt.exe to backup your registry to the folder of your choice.
Note: To restore your registry, go to the folder and start ERDNT.exe

Now, you need to download HijackThis 2.0.2. HijackThis is a freely available tool by Trend Micro.
  1. Create a new folder for HijackThis, something like C:\HJT, but this can be a folder of your choice, as long as it's a permanent folder solely for HijackThis
  2. Click this link: >>HijackThis 2.0.2<<
  3. Save this file to the folder you just created (Note: It is essential that you use this folder as HijackThis creates backups which will be lost if you run it from a Temporary folder)
Now we need to start a new topic in the Malware Removal Forum. To do this, click the following link:
>>Create New Topic<<

In the "Topic Title" and "Topic Description" fields, type a title and description that we can identify your problem with, for example:
Topic Title: Virtumonde Infection
Topic Description: IE Popups and Security Warnings
Then, type a detailed description of your problem in the main text area. This will aid us in analyzing your problem and devising a fix for you. The more information you can give us, the better.

Next, we will scan with HijackThis.
  1. Open HijackThis by double-clicking the HijackThis icon on your desktop.
  2. Click "Do A System Scan And Save A Logfile".
  3. HijackThis will then scan your system, which typically takes around 10-20 seconds.
  4. Once finished, a notepad window will open with the results of your scan. Copy the contents of this window by first pressing Ctrl + A and then Ctrl + C.
  5. Paste the log file underneath the description of your problem by pressing Ctrl + V.
  6. Click Post New Topic at the bottom of the page.
Your topic has now been created. A member of staff will help you as soon as they can. Please bear in mind that all the staff here have real lives as well as helping out at many forums, so we will not always be able to attend to your thread as quickly as we would like. If this is the case and you haven't received a reply within 3 days of posting your topic, add a reply to this thread with a link to your topic in the Malware Removal Forum. We will attend to your thread as soon as we can.

You can help us by not replying to your own thread (helpers look for threads with 0 replies, starting with the oldest), and by reading the Rules and Guidelines for the Malware Removal Forum thread.

Thanks,
