I suspect that my PC has become infected w/ a virus, spyware or maleware.

Using Speakeasy, I record 20MB dowload speads and only 40 kbs uploads when I do not get an error message. The upload test takes 50 seconds to load when it works at all.

I am writing this on a laptop that is connected on the same LAN as teh infected computer. This PC has 20BMdownh load speads with 1800KBS uploads typically so it is not the cable modem or wireless hub.

I also switched ports on the hub for the infected PC.
I have updated the INtel 100/ VE dirveres on the infected PC.
I have scanned the PC with Mcaffe and PC tools Spydoctor and both of these programs show no current infections, (there was a lot of spyware on the PC and I can show the log if needed)

I have turned of Mcaffe, Spydoctor and Windows Firwall with no speed increase.

Both Exlorer and Mozilla have the same spead problems. I though it might be a problem w/ IE.

I am stumped. The following is the highjack this file. Any help would be appreicated.

Hello Mark590, and welcome.gif to 247fixes.com! I will be handling your log to help you get cleaned up.
Please take note of the following:
  1. I will start working on your malware issues, this may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
  2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  3. The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clean. Just because a symptom disappears does not mean your system is clean.
  4. Please set aside enough time to complete all the steps in each post and follow the instructions in the order stated.
  5. Please don't run any extra scans or fix programs not requested by me as it could change the results in the reports I request.
  6. If there's anything that you don't understand, stop and ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
  7. If you have circumstances that you are aware of that will delay your response, then please let me know. This is to ensure that your topic remains open and I don't close it to start a new post.
  8. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Please give me some time to look over your log and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks,

htv8

Hi again htv8. I just canceled a MCaffe scan per your instructions and will not mess w/ anything else.

One item of note, is that at the time the PC began behaving badly, I was unable to turn Windows firwall protection on. I would get a warning message on boot up, but could not do anything about it in control panel, IE tools etc. After running Sypdoctor I was able to finally turn this on and off. I don't know if this has a bearing on my problem or not but thought I would share this with you.

Thanks.

Hello, Mark590. Thanks for the info. smile.gif

Before we begin, you should save these instructions in Notepad to your Desktop, or print them, for easy reference and to make sure you don't get lost.
Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below and do not miss any steps out. If at any point you have questions, or are unsure of the instructions, do not hesitate to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding with the fixes.

We need to run ComboFix.
  1. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool: How to use ComboFix.
  2. Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.
The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.
Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says: The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
  3. Please continue as follows:
    1. VERY IMPORTANT: Close/Disable all running antivirus, antimalware and firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix.
** Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. NOTE: The list is not all-inclusive. If yours is not listed and you do not know how to disable it, please ask. **
    2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
NOTE: ** Do not mouseclick ComboFix's window whilst it's running. That may cause your system to hang! **
    3. When finished, ComboFix shall produce a log for you; post the entire contents of that report in your next reply for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system.

GENERAL WARNING: Do NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert. It is a powerful tool intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an expert, not for private use. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your Operating System such as preventing it from ever starting again. Please read ComboFix's Disclaimer.

Step #1: ComboFix - CFScript
We need to re-run ComboFix with some additional directives:
  1. Close any open browsers/windows.
  3. Copy the entire contents inside the CODE box below into Notepad - don't use any other text editor than Notepad or the script will fail.
    CODE
    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mogbcxha.ini
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\cypagvft.ini

    FileLook::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Mark Holmes\g2mdlhlpx.exe

    DirLook::
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\TEMP
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\runtime
WARNING: The above script was written specifically for this infection on this person's computer. It is NOT to be used on another computer, as it may cause damage that could result in a format!
  4. Click File > Save and save as CFScript.txt in the same location as ComboFix.exe.

  5. Referring to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe. This will start ComboFix again.
NOTE: ** Do not mouseclick ComboFix's window whilst it's running. That may cause your system to hang! **
  6. When finished, ComboFix shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt; please post the entire contents of that report in your next reply for further review.
Step #2: Kaspersky WebScanner
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner:
  1. Please visit the Kaspersky Online Scanner website.
NOTE: ** If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select "Run as administrator" to perform this scan. **
  2. Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  3. After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer .
This will start the program and scan your system.
  4. The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
  5. Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report.
  6. Now, click on the Save Report as button.
  7. Change the "Files of Type" dropdown box to "Text Files".
  8. Enter a memorable filename.
  9. Save the file to your Desktop.
  10. Copy and paste that information in your next post.
Step #3: HijackThis - Uninstall List
We need to use HijackThis to create an uninstall list. Please provide me an uninstall list by performing these steps:
  1. Open HijackThis.
  2. Click Open the Misc Tools section. (If you don't see this button, click the Config... button and then the Misc Tools button on top to go to the Misc Tools section.)
  3. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
You'll see a list of currently installed programs.
  4. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save the uninstall list.
  5. Click Save.
This generates uninstall_list.txt, and Notepad will open up with the contents of that file.
  6. Copy and paste the entire contents of that Notepad file in your next reply.

More information with a screenshot can be found here.
Step #4: HijackThis - Scan
Please scan with HijackThis again and post a new HijackThis log.
__________________________________________________

So in your next reply, please post the entire contents of:
  • C:\ComboFix.txt
  • the Kaspersky Online Scanner report
  • uninstall_list.txt (the HijackThis uninstall list)
  • the new HijackThis log
NOTE: Use several posts if necessary to include everything in the requested logs.

The message above now has some format issue but here is my recap

I'm still not sure the recovery console loaded. I created shortcuts on the desk top, ctreated the CFSscript text file that appeared to execute but did not see the windows install stuff unless it goes by very fast.

I declined to update COMBOFIX,

It ran and flashed a could not find file message at the end.

Installed Java, ran Kaspersky

Everything else ran normally The following 4 logs are the output:
