Noticing little changes here and there. How does this keep happening and will a paid security suite like kapersky work better? Here's the kapersky scan results and hijack this.

Thanks for the help.

Hello, B-man.
welcome.gif to 247Fixes.com

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:
  • In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
  • Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. smile.gif
  • If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
  • Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.

We need to create a Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) Log
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from one of the links below and save to your Desktop.
Primary Mirror
Secondary Mirror
DSS will do the following:
  • Create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
  • Clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, Internet Cache Files, and empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
  • Check some important areas of your system and produce a report for an analyst to review.
  • Automatically run HijackThis. It will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have it installed. So if HijackThis is not installed and DSS prompts you to download it, please answer yes.

Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges when using Deckard's System Scanner.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it and follow the prompts.
  3. If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious.
  4. When the scan is complete, two text files will open in Notepad:
    • main.txt <-- Will be maximized
    • extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
  5. If not, they both can be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder.
  6. Please copy (<Control>+C) and paste (<Control>+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Note: When running DSS, some firewalls may warn that DSS is trying to access the Internet; especially if you are asked to download the most current version of HijackThis. Please ensure that DSS is given permission to access the internet.
Note: If you get a warning from your anti-virus while DSS is scanning, please allow DSS to continue as the scan is not harmful.

Hey Billy,

Thanks for getting back to me. I really appreciate the help. I ran the dss scanner and only came up with the main text. I did check the system folder and that was the only file there. No extra text. But here's the main.

Thanks again and I'll check back soon

Hello, B-man.

Lets get you fixed up smile.gif

Before we begin, you should save these instructions in Notepad to your desktop, or print them, for easy reference. Much of our fix will be done in Safe mode, and you will be unable to access this thread at that time. If you have questions at any point, or are unsure of the instructions, feel free to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding.
We need to see if a file is a virus.
  1. Please click this link-->Jotti
  2. When the jotti page has finished loading, click the Browse button and navigate to the following file and click Submit.
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hzrTray.exe
  3. If Jotti is busy, try the same at Virustotal: http://www.virustotal.com/
  4. Please post back the results of the scan in your next post.

I would like us to run a scan with MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware in Safe Mode
Please download MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware from one of the following mirrors:

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  1. Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  2. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  3. Close MbAM now.
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode by continuously tapping the F8 key as soon as the computer begins to boot. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode. Make sure you choose neither the "Safe Mode with Networking" nor the "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" options. We want simply "Safe Mode".
  5. Login with your usual account (not "Administrator")
  6. Go to Start -> Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware -> Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
  7. Once the program has loaded select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
Note: Quick is somewhat of a misnomer. The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  8. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  9. Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  10. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See note below) If you are not prompted to restart, restart into normal mode anyway.
  11. The log is automatically saved by MbAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MbAM.
  12. Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Note: If MbAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with a prompt. Click OK to to any prompts to let MbAM proceed with the disinfection process. If you are asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

In your next reply, please include the following:
  • VirusTotal/Jotti's Log
  • MbAM's Log
