1.I have a issue with right clicking on any any part of my desktop no menu shows up at all
2. if i try to go to properties on the start menu it displays the following message "This Operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I am the administrator on this computer and the only User.
3. Some of the options in my start menu task bar have disappeared like: Network, Connect to, and Control Panel

Well I've got a few ideas you can try. Go to start, run, and type this: %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc /s It will open up the computer manager where you can move to the user settings and make sure you really are an administrator. If its not set there you can set it.

If you can't do that, my other suggestion is to boot into safemode. To do this, restart your computer and hit the F8 key repeatedly while your system is booting, it will bring you to the boot screen with a list of options, like safe mode and safe mode with networking. Safe mode runs only the required things for windows to run on your pc, it shouldn't load much else. See if your problem persists in safe mode. You can also try the user management stuff here. Try going through the control panel first. start>control panel>administrative tools>computer management and you can get to the users in the left column. Just change the administrator settings from there too.

thanks for the response.. ive tried the following and havent had any luck i also should mention that im running windows vista home premium so there is no longer a run.exe in the start menu....is there anything else i can try too get rid of these problems...it appeared to happen after i downloaded a file which was an .exe which was supposed to install a program for me but did nothing but give me these issues ive deleted the .exe file from the computer and the program but no success
